Epsom, Ewell and Banstead Commissioning Group represents sixteen GP practices in mid Surrey whose role is to commission health services both in primary and secondary care for its diverse population of about 122,000.  Working with Surrey PCT, the Commissioning Group manages the area’s budget allocation of around £135m and seeks to use their local knowledge to buy services which best suit the local population and in the most cost effective way.  There is agreement in principle that from 1 April 2008 the Group will merge with the Leatherhead Cluster forming the largest in the county. EEB COM - Practice Based Commissioning for Mid Surrey

Practice Based Commissioning, which started in 2006, has offered new challenges to the medical practices of the Epsom, Ewell and Banstead Cluster (part of the new Surrey Primary Care Trust).  We are taking on additional responsibilities for the provision of health care for 122,000 patients, registered with 16 practices. In addition to providing primary care we are also required to commission their secondary care needs.
